LEARN

If you've never heard of a House Manager, you're not alone! Most people are unfamiliar with the role and what they do. Please read below to learn what a traditional House Manager does and how we're doing things differently to make this helpful service available to you!

WHAT IS A HOUSE MANAGER?

A House Manager does many things!

They run and maintain a private household, acting as the primary liaison between the homeowner and all of the property vendors. From house cleaners, dog walkers, and landscapers to pool companies, window and eavestrough cleaners, handymen, plumbers, and appliance repair technicians, etc. A House Manager tracks when home systems require regular maintenance, schedules necessary services, and oversees the work on-site.

In addition to property oversight, they assume responsibility for day-to-day home operations. This includes handling laundry, keeping the home tidy, organized, and clutter-free, maintaining stock of groceries and household goods, watering plants, managing recycling and garbage, and regularly maintaining high-traffic areas to prevent clutter from piling up.

A House Manager also runs a multitude of errands—such as visiting the dry cleaners, taking shoes and purses in for repair, handling all types of shopping, picking up prescriptions, managing pet care like vet and grooming appointments, gathering party supplies and decor, processing deliveries, returns, and much more!

A seasoned House Manager is deeply proactive, noticing details and attending to them oftentimes before the homeowner even does. Having a House Manager takes a huge mental and physical burden off your shoulders, allowing you to truly live 'The Good Life'!

HOW ARE WE DIFFERENT?

We're different for a few reasons!

Traditionally, hiring a House Manager means becoming a full time employer. You are suddenly responsible for paying a salary, complex payroll calculations, tax remittances (like EI and CPP), transportation fees and tracking vehicle mileage for errands.

With The Good Life House Management, we handle all of that. Your House Manager is our employee. You simply pay a straightforward service fee that covers everything - including transportation costs - leaving you with zero administrative burden and total peace of mind.

Until now, professional household help has been geared almost exclusively toward families with young children - which is why the traditional full-time model became the standard. For empty nesters, retirees, and professionals without children, support has largely been limited to basic cleaning services or hiring a full-time housekeeper which is unnecessary and unrealistic for most people! We are changing the game by bringing flexible, high-end home management to this underserved market.
